A couple of months back, I went on a bike ride a long the LA River. Being from Southern California, the LA River has always been part of my life. When I was little and riding in the back seat of my parent's car, I would dream of what it would be like to live in the marsh of the LA River. I figured out how I would set up my house and how I would get in and out of the river. I obviously grew out of that dream but riding a long the bike path was like a re-living my days riding in the back seat when you actually paid attention to details of what was going on in the world around you.

When seeing spots like the one to the left this made me remember my childhood dream to live in the LA River. Then I saw the amount of trash like the picture below and remembered how it might be a lil gross to live in the LA River.

I was a little sad that the cat faces were not painted on the iron cast drainage covers, like in the photo below, which was a feature that I always remembered as a child

What surprised me the most was the amount of different birds that I saw. I witnessed:

Gulls

White Pelicans

&

Cormorants

The LA River will always hold a special place in my heart and I suggest the bike ride to anyone who likes to enjoy the natural things that LA can offer.
